meet the artist

Hi! I’m Courtney, the artist and designer here. I’ve always loved anything creative- sketching, crafting, designing, decorating, baking, and of course, painting. I started my art career at Cedarville University, graduating with a B.A. in Graphic Design and Fine Art Minor. Upon graduating, I was a stationery designer at the cutest little shop in town. Once I had my second child, I became a full time stay-at-home-mom. A few years later, we welcomed a third. Being a mom is my full time gig. It’s my biggest blessing, most sanctifying experience, and greatest joy. However, as any mom knows, time for yourself (or really anything else!) is non-existent. Going from working full time, to being a mom full time, my paints and brushes were hidden away. I didn’t touch them for about 10 years.

A few years ago, my pastor asked if I would paint something for a project at church. Of course, I said yes, probably with the caveat of having low expectations. Wow, did I come alive during that project! With the encouragement of my husband, I carved out time to paint after bedtime and during naps. Some friends encouraged me to sell my pieces and here we are! Loving every minute of both Mom and Artist.

I am endlessly inspired by Creation. A breath-taking sunset, the way light hits a flower’s petals, the movement of water… Many of my pieces are inspired by my own property, as well as worship songs, and Scripture. I deeply value the concept of “home” and making our surroundings beautiful. Whether I am cooking for my family, designing and decorating our home, hosting family and friends, I aim to create a sense of belonging, peace, warmth, and comfort. I hope my artworks reflect the same sentiments. A few of my collectors have mentioned my works cause them to exhale. That’s the goal, friends. That these pieces bring you peace and calm, and point to something Greater.

X- Courtney
